Infirmières en pratique avancée : améliorer l’accès à la préservation de la fertilité chez les patients en oncologie

Abstract


Les traitements contre le cancer comme la chimiothérapie, la radiothérapie et l’intervention chirurgicale peuvent présenter des risques pour la fertilité future des enfants et des jeunes adultes. L’oncofertilité est un domaine en pleine évolution qui comporte un accès élargi à la préservation de la fertilité et à ses services. Cet article vise à : a) mettre en évidence les risques pour la fertilité associés au traitement du cancer et à ses impacts psychosociaux; b) décrire les options de préservation de la fertilité; c) discuter des problèmes uniques posés par la préservation de la fertilité dans les populations distinctes atteintes de cancer; d) déterminer le rôle primordial de l’infirmière en pratique avancée en matière de counseling et d’éducation.
