La vie pendant et après un cancer gynécologique : résumé des tendances et perspectives actuelles

Abstract


La vision de la survivance au cancer a bien évolué au cours des 40 dernières années, au point où elle est maintenant reconnue comme un aspect fondamental des soins oncologiques (Campbell et al., 2019; Halpern et al., 2016; Hewitt et al., 2006; Fitch et al., 2019; Marzorati et al., 2016 Romkey-Sinasac et al., 2021). Les personnes touchées par un cancer gynécologique, que ce soit pendant ou après la maladie, ont besoin de soins physiques et psychologiques adaptés à leur cancer bien au-delà du traitement actif (Beesley et al., 2019). Les populations mal desservies rencontrent davantage d’adversité, en raison de disparités qui se recoupent dans les déterminants sociaux de la santé, profondément rattachés aux obstacles structurels et systémiques entravant l’accès aux soins de santé (Canadian Cancer Statistics Advisory Committee/Comité consultatif des statistiques canadiennes sur le cancer, 2023; Helpman et al., 2022). Le taux d’incidence du cancer et le taux de survie augmentant au Canada, de plus en plus de gens auront besoin de soins de survie (Brenner et al., 2024). En parallèle, les traitements des cancers gynécologiques continuent d’évoluer (Harris, 2019). En assurant l’évaluation continue des patientes et la coordination complète des soins, en plus de promouvoir l’accès aux soins de survie, les infirmières en oncologie jouent un rôle de premier plan (Campbell et al., 2019; Cook et al., 2017; Horrill, 2022). Le présent article donne un aperçu des tendances actuelles, des besoins particuliers en matière de soins des personnes atteintes d’un cancer du col de l’utérus, des ovaires et de l’endomètre, ainsi que des survivantes à ce type de cancers, et des implications pour la pratique infirmière.
