Faits saillants de la première enquête pancanadienne multidisciplinaire sur le personnel infirmier spécialisé en radio-oncologie

Abstract


La présente étude vise à recueillir des données sur le personnel infirmier en radio-oncologie au moyen d’une enquête pancanadienne menée par l’Association canadienne des infirmières en oncologie/Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (ACIO/CANO), en collaboration avec l’Association canadienne de radio-oncologie (ACRO), l’Organisation canadienne des physiciens médicaux (OCPM) et l’Association canadienne des technologues en radiation médicale (ACTRM). L’enquête avait pour objectif de réunir des données sur la capacité du personnel, la charge de travail et les champs d’exercice, afin de dégager des constats essentiels à la modélisation prédictive de la main-d’œuvre et à l’élaboration de politiques. L’exercice a révélé des variations importantes entre les postes d’infirmières en équivalents temps plein des différents centres de radio-oncologie; en effet, les grands établissements comptent plus de personnel par accélérateur linéaire que les petits. L’étude souligne également les défis posés par le recrutement et la rétention du personnel, influencés par l’importante charge de travail, les horaires contraignants et les besoins en formation spécialisée. Malgré les obstacles, la transition vers des modèles de soins collaboratifs constitue une occasion d’optimiser le rôle des infirmières en radio-oncologie, et de souligner l’importance de la formation spécialisée et de la planification des effectifs. Les résultats confirment la nécessité d’une approche normalisée de la modélisation de la main-d’œuvre qui tient compte de l’acuité des besoins des patients et d’autres facteurs pour assurer l’équilibre dans l’allocation des ressources et améliorer la qualité des soins dans les unités de radio-oncologie.
