Principaux domaines d’exercice et compétences associées des infirmières oeuvrant à titre de navigateurs professionnels en oncologie
Abstract
Fillion et ses collaborateurs (2012) ont récemment conçu un cadre conceptuel pour les navigateurs professionnels en oncologie décrivant les principales fonctions de la navigation professionnelle en oncologie.
Objectif : Cette étude se fonde sur ce cadre pour définir les principaux domaines d’exercice et les compétences associées des navigateurs professionnels en oncologie.
Méthodes : L’étude a fait appel aux méthodes suivantes : revue de la littérature, schématisation des fonctions liées à la navigation au vu des normes et compétences de pratique, et validation de ce processus de schématisation auprès de navigateurs professionnels, de leurs gestionnaires et de spécialistes des soins infirmiers et comparaison des rôles dans des programmes de navigation similaires.
Constats : Les compétences associées ont été reliées aux trois principaux domaines d’exercice dégagés à savoir : 1) fournir de l’information et de l’éducation; 2) dispenser des soins de soutien et un appui émotionnel; 3) faciliter la coordination et la continuité des soins.
Conclusion : Les navigateurs en oncologie occupent une position privilégiée pour améliorer l’empowerment du patient et de sa famille ainsi que la continuité des soins.
Implications : Il s’agit d’un pas important dans l’avancement du rôle des infirmières en oncologie occupant des postes de navigateurs et dans le dégagement de domaines exigeant de nouvelles recherches.
