Efficacité et efficience de l’enseignement sur le cancer dispensé par des infirmières

Abstract


Étant donné l’augmentation des coûts relatifs aux soins de santé, il nous incombe d’évaluer les programmes d’enseignement sur le cancer dispensés par des infirmières en ce qui concerne leur efficacité et leur efficience économiques. Cette recherche avait pour but de comparer deux programmes d’enseignement dispensés par des infirmières dans un centre de cancérologie du Canada en examinant les connaissances des patients en matière de chimiothérapie et de ses effets secondaires, le nombre de comportements d’autosoin pour les effets secondaires, le degré d’utilisation de ressources sanitaires additionnelles, la satisfaction des patients et des infirmières sur le plan des programmes d’enseignement ainsi que le temps que ces dernières consacrent à cet enseignement. Les résultats indiquent que, dans notre centre, l’intervention expérimentale est plus efficace et plus efficiente que le programme d’enseignement structuré habituellement dispensé aux patients. Les résultats de cette étude commencent à remédier au manque de données sur la rentabilité d’un volet crucial des soins infirmiers en oncologie pour les patients traités en clinique externe.
